Janet is the Mother of an adult child with autism born in 1978, who now lives more independently than she ever thought possible. 
 
She was a mainstream Primary School Teacher from 1969 until she retired, and her last 16 years were spent as a Deputy Head teacher and SENCO. Janet has taught many children with autism. 
 
Janet has been Secretary of the Lincolnshire Autistic Society for over 20 years. She runs the local helpline for parents and professionals and has been an NAS councillor since 1996 and a trustee from 1997. She is no longer a Trustee of the NAS but has moved across to Chair NASAT and EQD for the NAS. 
 
She lives in Donington, Lincolnshire where she is on a wide range of community and social welfare committees. 
 
Janet is an appointed co-opted member of the Local Governing Board.
