A novel way to mark World Book Day – Thames Valley School take reading to the extreme!
Thames Valley School got out and about in the name of literature with an ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’ this World Book Day.
Whether indoors, on the seashore, or reading to a horse…staff and students were challenged to ‘get caught’ reading in various places over half term (photo evidence required!). The more unusual the location, the better. Staff and students competed in two separate categories. Our three favourite photos from each will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
We were really impressed by the weird and wonderful results! The winners will be announced shortly. In the meantime, here are some snapshots so far.
That’s what I call a cliffhanger! Aaron goes to the beach with Julia Donaldson’s The Whale and the Snail. His favourite part of the book was the beached whale being saved. This made us think about how big a whale must be compared to a snail, and that it doesn't matter how small you feel...you can make a big difference!
