Our residential care is tailored to each child.
We do not only provide day education but we also provide a range of residential services which are located in the grounds of the school. Clayton Croft Childrens Home provides an all year round residential services, whereas Thurnscoe House and Studios provide a weekly and flexible boarding service.
Our two residences, Clayton Croft & Thurnscoe House and Studios are Ofsted registered. We make sure that they are safe, secure and happy places for your child to live. Clayton Croft and Thurnscoe House and Studios are located in the school grounds, an easy walk to and from school. Located on the outskirts of the village of Thurnscoe, which has shops, a modern health centre, chemists and community activities and groups which welcome our children.
All of our residential provision is decorated and equipped to be low arousal, safe and secure. Children and young people are encouraged to make choices that enhance their daily lives, including what they would like to wear and eat. We try to ensure that your child makes healthy meal choices and that physical health is promoted.
Our large and experienced team of people who look after your child have very close links with the daily life of the school, supporting their teachers and Teaching Assistants. They will accompany your child to school each morning and make sure they are formally handed over into the care of the school staff. However, we do more than this, our residential care strategies are linked closely with educational targets, informed by specialist input and underpinned by our autism specific model of support.
Our assessment and planning process ensure that your child settles in quickly with the minimum of disruption.
