Janet Corcoran, MBE

Janet is the mother of an adult child with autism born in 1978, who now lives more independently than she ever thought possible. She was a mainstream primary school teacher from 1969 until she retired, and her last 16 years were spent as a Deputy Head teacher and SENCO. Janet has taught many children with autism.
Janet has been Secretary of the Lincolnshire Autistic Society for over 20 years. She runs the local helpline for parents and professionals and she has been a National Autistic Society councillor since 1996 and a trustee from 1997. She is no longer a Trustee but has moved across to Chair NASAT and EQD for The National Autistic Society.
She lives in Donington, Lincolnshire where she is on a wide range of community and social welfare committees.
She is an appointed co-opted member of the Local Governing Board.
Janet was named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2020 for an MBE in recognition of her services undertaken locally and nationally to make a difference to the lives of autistic people and their families.
