Mencap Cymru and Wales Learning Disability Helpline

Main information

Type of service: Helplines, Service providers

Mencap Cymru has over 1500 individual members and a growing number of schools and community groups. Provide support so people with a learning disability can live as independently as they want. We provide advice and information to anyone who is affected by learning disability and have a network of regional officers across Wales who provide face-to-face support to individuals and families, and develop links with other local organisations. We provide services to support people with a learning disability to train for and find employment, and we provide domiciliary services and short-term breaks for parents and carers. We can assist people with a learning disability to influence change in their areas, and can help them take issues up with local politicians and councils. Mencap Cymru runs the Wales Learning Disability Helpline (0808 808 1111). Our bilingual helpline is open from 10am to 6pm every weekday, and 10am to 4pm on the weekends and bank holidays. The helpline is free, and can offer advice and information in Welsh and English.
