Main information
Type of service: Interventions and therapies
Service URL: http://www.thefreedomcentre.info
The aim of this service is to improve the mental wellbeing using Equine Assisted Psychotherapy/Learning and Integrative counselling. To help them to achieve this they have put together a team of highly qualified and friendly staff, and a herd of 12 horses and ponies. Horses are large and strong yet extremely intuitive, and are experts in reading body language. They are highly social animals and their very survival depends on their ability to sense subtle changes in body language. They mirror our emotions with very clear responses which enables them to address the issues you may have much quicker, whilst also learning to deal with the physical sensations involved. The work we do is non ridden so absolutely anyone can benefit from this. The centre specialises in trauma therapy but the possibilities are endless, this could benefit people with autism, depression, low confidence and self esteem obesity, and those at risk of anxiety. Other people who may benefit are: young and adult offenders; women at risk; vulnerable adolescents; those experiencing life change and crisis; post traumatic stress disorder; eating Disorders and those going through family therapy. .
This service has a mental health professional who is an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and EMDR therapist with many years experience.
