Autism Resource Centre (ARC)
Main information
Type of service: Training providers, Family support and information services, Training providers
The Autism Resource Centre (ARC) is a Glasgow City Council
service which works closely with other local services which support people
affected by autism, including NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, The National
Autistic Society, and Strathclyde Autistic Society. One-to-one information and
advice is available through the information service.
The ARC offers an information, advice, and signposting
service to adults with autism, or those seeking diagnostic assessment, as well
as to parents, family members, and the professionals who support them. Please
note that these services are for Glasgow residents only, due to funding
restrictions. We also offer training which explains autism as a condition,
which is free to individuals and families living in Glasgow, but there are
charges for residents of other local authority areas who wish to attend.. One-to-one information and
advice is available through the information service by telephone, email, or in
person (by appointment only). We do not operate a drop-in service, as we are in
a shared building and in order to ensure that a staff member is available to
see visitors..
. The ARC also offers a training programme to raise awareness
of autism and build knowledge and skills among individuals, parents, carers and
professional staff. This ranges from introductory awareness training
aimed at anyone with an interest in autism through to more specialist levels, including training specifically for
parents which is delivered in conjunction with partner agencies (specifically,
Autism Parent Pathway Training and Could it be Autism?). Our autism awareness training is free to parents within the Glasgow City
Council area. For adults, parents, family
members, and professionals from other local authority areas, there is a charge
of £40 per head for attending. This charge also applies to employees of private
companies, wherever they are based..
