Pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are educated in mainstream classes within this special school. Teachers and support staff have had ASD training and many have a great deal of experience in working with pupils with an ASD. The National Curriculum is modified according to the needs of the pupils. Social skills work is given high priority as is the strong liaison with supporting agencies including speech therapy and occupational therapy. There is an after school club called the Alnwick Club for pupils with ASD one night a week. There is also a summer holiday club. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils subject to checks and careful vetting procedure.
