Brierley

Main information

Type of service: Residential services

Brierley is a purpose built bungalow that provides residence and care for six people who have complex needs arising from an autistic spectrum disorder and with physical disabilities. Service users will have complex high dependency needs and a low incidence of unpredictable and challenging behaviour. There is a strong emphasis on personal skill development and assumption of self responsibility within the framework of support focused on self care, daily living skills, and community involvement. Brierley has its own team led by a team manager who works under the co-ordination and direction of a Service Manager responsible for Brierley and three other bungalows. The staff team are all required to attend in-service staff training and development programmes including Understanding and Working with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and methods of intervention and support for people with a physical disability. All service users have a detailed care programme reflecting the aims of their individual assessment and care plan. Care plans reflect the principles of the government white paper Valuing People and all referrals are provided with a detailed pre placement assessment by independent Care Consultants.
