Barnardo's, in partnership with Shropshire Council provides 2 short break services. Family-based, which provides overnight and day care, linking disabled children and young people aged 0 to 18, who have been assesssed by the Local Authority Disabled Children's team as needing the service, with approved carers. 'Connect' is a 1 year pilot to March 2012 supporting children and young people 4-18 with additional needs for up to 10 weeks.Through a team of registered volunteers, the service offers 3 options:- 1:1 support to access a leisure activity or to attend a 'resilience' group. It also offers one off support to enable a whole family to enjoy an activity or outing.
