Fosse Way School is a special school (3-19 years) which specialises in pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). From September 2013 it has led a multi-academy chain. The current number on roll is 185 pupils. There is weekly, term time residential provision for a small number of pupils. Although an academy our referral process is managed through Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Local Authority. As a Teaching School we host a programme of training opportunities which are detailed on our website. The local authority commissions Fosse Way to provide the ASD Support Service for all B&NES pupils (details on website). Strategies: Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) (Verbal Behaviour) and Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL).
