Kathleen Gayton, through her practice, Honeybee Psychology, provides expert and child-friendly educational psychology assessment and support to children, schools and families. Kathleen has experience of working with children with a wide range of needs and has a particular interest in working with children and young people with autism spectrum conditions. She has worked as an Educational Psychologist for two Local Authorities and with a number of well-respected private practices across London and East Anglia. Prior to qualifying as an Educational Psychologist, Kathleen worked as a primary school teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). She spent several years as a Family Support Worker for the Norfolk Autistic Society. Kathleen's approach is friendly and flexible to the needs of children, schools and families. Reports are clear and informative, providing practical and evidence-based strategies to support children's learning, behaviour and social development. Services available include psychometric assessment of children's cognitive skills and academic attainments, play-based assessment and consultation with parents and school staff. Kathleen provides post-diagnostic support to schools and families and support before and after transition. She works with parents and schools to manage challenging behaviour, school anxiety and other difficulties. Bespoke training packages and direct consultation with schools can be arranged. Kathleen is happy to visit children in school or at home and works closely with families, members of school staff and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children with complex needs. Kathleen welcomes informal enquiries prior to referral and accepts direct referrals from parents and referrals from schools and medical professionals, with parental consent. She is able to provide independent expert reports and attend tribunals/educational appeal committees. Kathleen Gayton is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), British Psycholological Society (BPS), Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP), Association of Child Psychologists in Private Practice (ACHIPP).
