The name of the unit for pupils with special needs is the Key Stage 2 Support Base. Pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) work alongside children with statements for special educational needs (SEN) primarily academic and children without Statements who have been referred. The children with ASD also have a statement. Depending on severity, support is given to also support that child within the school. The Support Base offers a more appropriately paced and structured curriculum as well as addressing social, emotional and behavioural issues. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
