The Centre is a Local Educational Authority (LEA) funded class for children with a statement for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It operates an inclusive model within the mainstream school. There is a Teacher-in-Charge of Centre with 4 Teaching Assistants who support the children within the mainstream class where possible and appropriate. We follow the Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH) model. Otherwise the core curriculum is taught in the Centre. Occasionally colleagues from other provisions will come and work with us for short periods.
