Henry Tyndale School caters for approximately 123 children between the ages of 2 and 19 years who all have complex learning difficulties. Between 30 and 40 per cent of pupils have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The school provides education tailored by skilled and trained professionals to meet the special educational needs (SEN) of each individual child. Teachers use their training in special education and specialist training in specific strategies such as Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), intensive interaction and Team Teach to ensure all pupils receive a high quality of input. The school benefits from a relatively new building and attractive site. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils once Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked. Overseas pupils who are not resident in the United Kingdom (UK) are accepted if their families are about to become residents if they have an appropriate statement of SEN.
