A consultation and training centre for additional educational needs. SMILE is a co-operative of the 40 Gravesham schools together with Gravesham multi-agency partners and KCC services. Membership of the co-operative entitles members access to free, supportive services for supporting children with additional educational needs, together with a range of specialised resources and materials. The following training is delivered at the Ifield Smile Centre: Foundation Level Introduction to ASD (1 day course) - primary or secondary, run by 2 specialist teachers, a speech and language therapist (SALT), and an educational psychologist; Family Support training (various speakers over the year including clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, and dieticians) provided 6 times a year; talk by Ros Blackburn, a woman with autism, provided annually and open to schools and families; Signalong training provided twice a year and open to staff and parents in the Gravesham cluster; Communicate in Print training, provided 3 times a year for cluster staff.
