Keston Unit, The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove
Main information
Type of service: Assessment, Hospital services
This service is for adults with Asperger syndrome or an autism spectrum condition (ASC) who may be experiencing a behavioural or mental health crisis and who need a period of intense or longer term engagement in a specialist, structured environment. They may be within a generic acute psychiatric service and making little recovery through lack of specialist interventions or they may require a period of specialist acute treatment due to escalating needs whilst in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Once admitted, some of our patients require a longer-term specialist placement to provide care and support on their care pathway to a step down or supported living facility. Our assessment and treatment services cater for both acute and rehabilitative placements. Person-specific, the common aims of placements include: Comprehensive assessment; In-depth diagnostic formulation; Recommendations for treatment; Preparation for transition to step-down or supported living; Maximisation of personal resources and achievement potential; and Development of coping strategies. This is an Acute Inpatient service for patients with an ASC.
