Leicester City Sensory and Soft Play Rooms

Leicester City Council have a sensory room, soft play room and outdoor play area available for Leicester City Families and Practitioners to book. Sessions need to be booked in advance through The Access Point (TAP). The sensory room is fully equipped with a sound system, computer programme and various lights/projectors. The room can be adapted to children's needs and a portable hoist and floor mats can be made available if needed (please request when booking). The room is wheelchair accessible and the opening width of the door is 730mm. The soft play room is also available for booking an use alongside the sensory room, it is not wheelchair accessible. The outdoor play area is wheelchair accessible and can be accessed within the available booking times (weather permitting). These facilities are used daily by pupils of the nursery and are now also available to book and use through the Disabled Children's Service on weekends, school holidays and Thursdays in term time between 4pm and 8pm. A member of staff will be present at the sessions to offer support with the use of equipment. Changing facilities including a changing bed and ceiling hoist are available at the venue. There is also a kitchen area located near the sensory room, which can be used if needed; tea and coffee will be made available.
