The Muntham Autism Centre (MAC) is a discreet facility within the primary department of the school. Referrals are for children and young people (CYP) in receipt of a statement of special educational needs (SSEN) and through local authorities. The centre provides specific educational and learning programmes for young people with autistic type developmental problems. The young people are given individual and group learning opportunities matched to their abilities and needs and where feasible are integrated into the school proper or local Further Education (FE) Colleges. Often the CYP board within the school in integrated living groups. The rationale is one of integration and management of personal behaviour within the wider community. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school also offers The Engage Therapy Programme. This is a therapeutic service suitable for high functioning CYP with autism and those with minimal social and communication difficulties.
