NAS Scotland Transitions Project

Type of service: Outreach - education

Transitions is a modular based program that can be delivered individually or to a group of secondary aged pupils and adults who have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This program may also be beneficial to people with other social and communication additional support needs. The aim is to equip individuals for adulthood and throughout adulthood to manage the various opportunities and challenges that they may face. Modules can include: Autism and Asperger Syndrome Awareness; Social and Communication Skills; Relationships; Emotion Management; Transition from School; Employment Choices; Money Matters; Team Work; and Independent Travel. Transitions also includes aspects of the The National Autistic Society (NAS) SocialEyes resource. SocialEyes concentrates on eight social skills that people with an ASD may have difficulty with and provides them with social interaction skills and strategies to deal with these.
