This is a school for pupils with statements of severe learning difficulties (SLD) & profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The school is split site with purpose built primary & secondary sites, the primary site is co-located with Gillingstool mainstream Primary School. Facilities include a swimming pool, 2 sports halls, 2 drama halls, astroturf sports area, a wide range of outdoor educational facilities, information and communications technology (ICT) Pod, 2 libraries, specialist science, design technology (DT), art & music rooms, & 2 sensory studios. There are 9 classes with 1 teacher & 2 assistants per class. The content of the curriculum taught is taken from the Foundation Curriculum & the National Curriculum Key Stages 1 to 5. At post-16 there is a range of accreditation on offer. Literacy & numeracy strategies are fully implemented. The school places particular emphasis on pupils' learning styles, hence there is evidence of a great deal of sensory activities & resources. 'P' levels are used for assessment & target setting purposes. An extra curriculum offered by the school is a multi-sensory curriculum. Pupils are educated in mixed groups & hoisting facilities are installed in every classroom. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
