Social Communication Assessment Teams (SCATs)

Type of service: Diagnostic services

Social Communication Assessment Teams (SCATs) are responsible for the assessment and diagnosis of children and young people up to and including the age of 18 years with social and/or communication difficulties. An assessment and diagnostic service is also accessible in Powys for those individuals over 18 years. This service includes pre and post diagnostic counselling. Assessment procedure: Uses 3Di and ADOS.

Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes. Includes Clinical Psychology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Specialist CAMHS clinicians, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, LD specialist nursing.
