The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy

Main information

Type of service: Further & Higher Education

The residential Further Education Through Horsemastership (FETH) Course enables people between 16 and 25 years with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and with a passion for horses, to learn in an equine environment. The FETH Course is usually of 3 years duration. Students learn on and around the stable yard; learning is then transferred into an understanding of life skills in everyday situations in order to prepare young people for adult life. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the students. It caters for a range of learning disabilities and difficulties. The service also provides a residential 52 weeks a year placement. This is a residential placement for people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who have had past dealings with, and who benefit from living in an environment with continued equine contact and access to riding.
