The Garden School

Main information

Type of service: Assessment, Day schools, Schools

This is a day school catering for pupils from 4 to 16 years old. Pupils are robust and mobile with communication and social interaction needs, often complex inter-related difficulties. The majority of pupils have a diagnosis of autism. This is almost exclusively the case in primary. Pupils are admitted who will benefit from provision designed to meet the learning and communication needs of pupils with autism ie a curriculum, pedagogy and learning environment which addresses the care deficits. Secondary pupils may have severe learning difficulties without a diagnosis. They will benefit from a highly specialised curriculum which focuses on the development of communication. The attainment of primary and secondary pupils will in most cases be assessed as being between P4 and P8 on the P scales. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
