The Livity School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
The Livity School is a small primary complex needs school. All pupils have severe learning difficulties (SLD), some have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and some have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Pupils are educated in small class groups, predominately linked to either autism or PMLD, but there are some mixed classes. The school teaches all curriculum subjects, but its schemes of work are adapted to meet the needs of the pupils. We use a variety of strategies to support the learning of the pupils with autism, including Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and aspects of Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH). Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. All students and volunteers are fully Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked.
