The Rise School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
The Rise School educates and supports children and young people with autism, aged 4-19 years, enabling them to access a broad and challenging curriculum alongside pupils at mainstream school. At the same time as concentrating on our pupils' academic and social learning, they focus strongly on the transition to adult life, working with pupils and their families to maximise access to further and higher education and employment. With high expectations for their pupils, they focus not just on the immediate future but on their long term goals and future aims. The Rise School is co-located with Feltham Community College in West London, a mainstream secondary school. By co-locating with Feltham Community College, they enable our pupils to access the national curriculum at broadly age appropriate levels whilst receiving the specialist support they need. They also offer a range of qualifications including GCSEs, A-levels, and vocational BTECs. The Rise School uses a personalised, multi-disciplinary and evidence-based approach to enable young people to learn and achieve. Every pupil has access to a team of qualified teachers, behaviour specialists, and allied health professionals. This school is supported by the Autism Schools Trust, a partnership between Ambitious about Autism and Dimensions - two national organisations that have significant expertise in delivering autism services..
Places are usually taken up at the start of the school year but can be accessed at any time of the year by arrangement with the Headteacher. The Rise School admits children who have a primary diagnosis of autism and who require specialist schooling, but who may proceed to different levels of inclusion in mainstream education. Each application is considered on an individual basis and our process evaluates the needs of the individual child to determine whether the school would be suitable. All pupils will have been initially referred by the local authority and will have the school named in their statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
