The Priory is a Local Education Authority (LEA) special school for pupils aged 11 to 16 who have moderate learning disabilities (MLD) and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The school offers a very wide curriculum, including the full National Curriculum and has achieved "International School" Accreditation for its European and international links. The school offers a structured, disciplined and caring environment where pupils may thrive and develop their own personalities and strengths. The school federated with the Garth Special School on 4th June 2007. The Garth School caters for 35 pupils with severe learning difficulties. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
