Veryan Place is a specialist community-based residential service for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders who may also:



• have learning disabilities, mental health issues and present with challenging behaviour

• may currently reside in more secure settings or in less structured placements

• require a period of intensive support within a safe, supportive environment.



We provide a 24hour person centred support to every individual to increase their skills and confidence, and to enable them to move on to their adult's homes with increased independence. We work closely in partnership with the person themselves and those around them, to enable them to become a valued and active member of their community and to participate in a lifestyle that interests them. Our aim is to equip each individual with the skills they need to be able to cope with everyday situations, and move on to more independent living. To achieve this our skilled staff team adopt a range of approaches to support each individual to achieve their goals and reach their potential. This includes Positive Behaviour Support, Augmented communication methods, scheduling systems, Active Support and Person Centred Thinking Tools. We support each individual to set goals that are important to them and then enable them to take the steps to achieve their dreams. Goals set are monitored and progress is measured, to ensure success and achievement is celebrated with each individual, and new aspirations can be worked towards. We work in partnership with other organisations to support each individual to access and participate in educational and leisure activities that supports their individual lifestyle development. Through clear goal setting and person-centred thinking, areas of development and interest can be identified with each individual, to enable them to increase skills and confidence for adult life. Working with each person that we support to create schedules and timetables helps them to make sense of their daily activities and reduce the anxiety of the unknown. We support each person to learn how to manage and make sense of every-day social situations that can cause confusion and anxiety using techniques such as social stories to explain social rules and boundaries. Veryan provides homely, alongside robust and purpose built environments. can support up to 3 young people and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and complex needs. Each individual is supported within a ground floor flat-let including bedroom, living space/dining space and ensuite. Each individual also has access to the communal living room, dining space, kitchen, garden and patio areas. Individuals are supported in each of these environments to increase their independent living skills and to ensure health and safety at all times.
