Main information
Type of service: Play and leisure
Werewolves of London Special Ice Hockey Club provides an opportunity for children and young adults with developmental disabilities to participate in the sport of ice hockey. The programme is adapted for special needs and is non-contact and non-competitive with an emphasis on fun. Players with high skill levels may also be able to join mainstream teams within Streatham Youth Ice Hockey Club. Participants will improve gross motor skills, self-confidence and self-esteem. Being part of a team will encourage the development of social skills with longer term benefits to quality of life and social inclusion. Age range from 5 to young adults. The Werewolves of London is the only programme of its type in the UK and is interested in helping to establish similar programmes elsewhere in the UK and Europe under the umbrella of Special Hockey International - for more information see http://www.specialhockeyinternational.org.
