White Lodge is a spacious house surrounded by a large garden and it is located close to the centre of Purley near Croydon. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them. White Lodge is a care home providing person-centred care with eight places for people with learning disabilities aged 18 to 65 years in a small residential setting with 24-hour support The approach to dealing with challenging behaviour emphasises the need for constructive activity and learning new skills. Each service user has a key worker who provides advice and support and devises an individual programme plan based on an assessment of needs and preferences. The plan might include a range of possible activities such as: •Basic daily self-care skills and domestic skills •Basic educational and social skills •Individual and small group recreational activities •Basic work experience activities. The location of White Lodge enables frequent trips into Croydon to gain experience in social situations and participation in mainstream leisure pursuits.
