Lawrence's Super 7 Cycle
With World Autism Awareness Week underway, we want to give a shout out to some more of our Super 7 Heroes!
We caught up with Lawrence, fundraising hero, cyclist, and dad to Zoe and Zane. Zane is autistic and has recently discovered a love of arts and crafts.
Sign up for your Super 7 ChallengeThis year, Lawrence is cycling a mighty 700km, while fundraising for our charity. Here, he tells us a bit more about Zane’s diagnosis, raising autism awareness in the African community, and why he’s stepping up to our Super 7 Challenge...
For my Super 7 Challenge, I'll be cycling 700km in support of the 700, 000 autistic people across the UK, including my seven-year-old son Zane.
Zane was officially diagnosed as autistic just over two years ago. He also has special educational needs, and was non-verbal until recently. Zane has made amazing progress in the last two years. He has a special talent for art and loves drawing and creating things.
You can check out all of Zane’s amazing creations on his Instagram page.

Lawrence and family
It is clear to me that autism awareness is still needed. This includes information on what autism is, what being autistic is like, and how non-autistic people can support neurodiverse people - whether at home, school or work. I am of African heritage, and autism and neurodiversity are often not spoken about, or silently regarded as a taboo topic in our community.
I hope that by doing this challenge, I can help inform more people about autism and neurodiversity. World Autism Awareness Week is a fantastic opportunity to get the message out there.
