Scarlett's Super 7 story
Our next Super 7 hero is Scarlett, a six-year-old autistic girl with a love of Lego and a knack for numbers. This year, Scarlett will be taking on a series of seven mini challenges, while raising money for our charity. From baking seven cupcakes to dyeing her hair seven different colours, she's got plenty of exciting activities planned!

Why are you taking part in World Autism Awareness Week?
I'm taking part because I'm autistic and I want to raise awareness.
Scarlett’s mum, Charlotte, tells us: “Scarlett was diagnosed as autistic in October 2019, at the age of four.
She finds it hard to communicate and interact with other people, to understand how other people think or feel and to understand and express how she feels. She can get stressed and anxious when she doesn’t know what's expected of her, and it can take her longer to process information.
Scarlett goes to an amazing mainstream school, who support her needs. She loves school. Since going there, she’s been reading and writing well, and has even been challenging herself to some Year Four maths!”

Scarlett, what are you planning to do for your Super 7 Challenge?
I am doing seven mini challenges:
Bake 7 cupcakes
Shoot 7 basketball hoops
Do 7 times tables
Do a 7 minute workout
Walk or jog for 7 minutes
Create an 'Autism Awareness' poster in 7 minutes
Dye 7 colours in my hair for the day at school
Do you have any tips for autistic people and their families?
My tip would be: Always be kind to people. Love yourself and then everyone else will love you too.
