International Women’s Day is here! This year’s theme is Each for Equal, and focuses on the importance of creating an equal world for all. This includes autistic women.
Although awareness of autism in women in girls is growing, we still have a long way to go. Many autistic women and girls still go undiagnosed or may struggle to receive appropriate support. This could be due to gender stereotypes, lack of representation, and the myth that autism is an exclusively male condition.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, we want to give a shout out to just a few of the fantastic autistic women who are working hard to challenge these stereotypes and help others to get the support they need.
