ABI Homes provides specialist residential services and pathways to supported living for adults with ASC and associated conditions in Milton Keynes. Their support workers have immediate technical support from our multidisciplinary team. They are encouraged to learn knowledge and skills provided by multiagency professionals (Speech and Language Therapist, Community Nurses, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Psychiatrist and assistive technology professionals). Specialist skills are central to service delivery especially in developing independence. Their in house dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Team consists of a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, a Consultant Clinical and Forensic Psychologist and an Education Consultant. They provide aids for communication such as communication guidelines, Social Stories ™ and talking mats. They advise on TEACCH, SPELL and bespoke education packages, monitor individuals' mental health and formulate Risk Assessment Matrix . Their MDT provide training and advice and support staff with strategies for managing challenging behaviour. The holistic support provided by competent staff is more cost effective and sustainable.
