Access Counselling Lowestoft
Main information
Type of service: Counsellor, Interventions and therapies
I began counselling in 2005 and have experience working with adults and young adults aged from 16 upwards. I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which means I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. .
I have my own private practice but also work for a charitable organization within the local community. I see individuals referred by GPs and the NHS for solution focused therapy which last for six sessions. I also work on an open ended basis, which means counselling can continue for longer periods, i.e. months or years depending upon the person's needs. I have experience working within an educational setting offering counselling to students aged 16 plus. .
To enhance my theoretical knowledge and as part of my on-going commitment to my professional development, I attend regular CPD's (continued professional development seminars) which keep me informed and up to date with current thinking. I have experience working with the bereaved, having worked as a Volunteer Bereavement Support Worker for a national charitable organization for two years. Before training to become a counsellor, I worked in a residential home for the elderly. I held the position of a Senior Carer and was responsible for the wellbeing of the residents which included adults with mental health issues. I am also experienced to work with people on the autistic spectrum..
