The Alan Shearer Short Break Centre offers specialised short breaks for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities, autism and Asperger's syndrome. The Centre also supports guests who may require more specialist care such as: nasal-gastric feeding, insulin management, anticonvulsant medication and extreme challenging behaviour management. Set in tranquil, accessible grounds, the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre is a happy, stimulating and safe environment for guests. The Centre offers specialist accommodation, with adapted bathrooms and specialised beds such as Caldy Cot, profile and air filled beds ensuring comfort of guests is a priority. Each room has a staff call system,hoist and tracking systems - which extend to the corridor between rooms - to assist those with limited mobility. The Centre is unique in that it offers full access to the onsite specialist Activity Centre including use of the hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms and activity rooms. The Centre also provides guests with days out around the North East and Northumberland, visits to local shops and places of interest as well as the chance to learn new hobbies and activities. The length of your short breaks is flexible, from weekends to mid-week breaks and longer stays.
