An Darach means Place of Oaks and An Darach House is situated in the Lincolnshire village of North Scarle and is home to six adults with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Each resident has their own en-suite bedroom and share a large kitchen, dining room and lounge. The house is near the centre of the village and has a large landscaped garden to the rear of the property and a games room. The village offers a traditional local pub and shop with a good bus service into Lincoln. It is a small residential care home which provides personal care on a 24 hour basis. Each resident has an Individual Plan of Care, agreed by the home manager, parents/advocates and the placing authority. Residents are encouraged to integrate within their community by attending local events such as village fetes and fundraisers. Care staff assist in developing the skills required for independent living such as: completing weekly shopping, cleaning their home, gardening, cooking and visting places of interest. Residents are encouraged to make as many decisions and can access services and facilities within their community such as GP, dentist, sports centres and colleges. Residents are supported by their staff to go on an annual holiday to different places in the country and even abroad.
