The aim of Asperger East Anglia is to provide a service for children and adults with Asperger syndrome in East Anglia. We supply social groups across all ages in Norwich, Fakenham, Great Yarmouth and Beccles and also offer carers support groups, employment support and a personal support service; CHILDREN YOUTH AND FAMILIES GROUPS: For children aged between 5-12 years and 13-18 years held fortnightly throughout the year. Experienced staff provide fun, creative activities in a safe and supportive environment, support is extended to parents/carers and siblings; ADULT SOCIAL GROUP: Our adult social group assists adults with a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome to develop social and other life skills that promote their independence and social inclusion. The group run fortnightly and located in Norwich and Beccles; EDUCATION AID: We provide parents and carers living in Norfolk and Suffolk with information, advice and guidance to navigate the educational system and offers support to schools and parents with issues relating to children and young people with Asperger syndrome attending school; PERSONAL SUPPORT SERVICE: Our personal support service provides assistance to people with Asperger syndrome to: access leisure activities; daily living skills; deal with change; develop budgeting skills; enhance independence; gain the skills to engage in community events; identify education/training/employment opportunities; increase confidence; maintain physical and mental health wellbeing; reduce isolation; and travel training; EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING WORKSHOP: Our employment and training programme is a training service which supports unemployed people affected by Asperger syndrome; and TRAINING: We deliver Asperger syndrome awareness training to local businesses, professional agencies including the National Health Service (NHS) and the general public. The service provides employment and work experience, adult social groups, children and family groups and carer support groups.
