Asperger Syndrome Specialist Team

The team provide an advice and consultancy service in respect of individuals who have Asperger syndrome, or who would be diagnosable with this condition, and their carers and families. The service can offer diagnostic assessments individualised or group training (basic and enhanced) and expert supervision/support to individuals, carers and Trust teams. Advice and consultancy is on offer to people with Asperger syndrome, their carers, and professionals / agencies within the Somerset Partnership NHS Trust/Somerset County Council area. A major part of the role is liaising with outside agencies developing / maintaining services for people with Asperger syndrome and working with people with complex needs. N.B. This service can only accept referrals from people living in Somerset and does not cover Bath & North East Somerset.
Assessment procedure: People have to be eligible for mental health services and satisfy FACS eligibility criteria.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Nursing.
