ASSERT (Autism Specialist Support for Educational Reforms and Transition

ASSERT are a small team of Case Coordinators who are funded until 2015 to provide support to families who have a child with autism with SEN-related issues, including statements and EHC plans, self-directed support, personal budgets, transition to adulthood. The team work across all 14 local authorities in the West Midlands. They provide SEN surgeries (free, impartial, face to face advice sessions on any SEN-related issues), free group workshops for parents on SEN reforms and 'Family Focus' - longer term support for families with specific, more intensive needs related to SEN and the reforms (families are referred from professional agencies only).
