National diagnostic service for adults.
Assessment procedure: Assessment appointment usually lasts 5 hours approximately (with lunch break), psychiatric interview including family history with emphasis on developmental history, use of tools such as ADI-R and ADOS, brief medical examination, mental state examination. Where appropriate will arrange a second appointment for MRI scan and neuropsychological testing.
Follow up service: No, but in some cases, where funding is available from local authority there is an outreach service available. In-patient treatment can be commissioned by local health authority.
