Autism Care UK Ltd Supported Living Services

Main information

Type of service: Supported living schemes

The purpose of a supported living model is to enable adults with autistic spectrum disorders to live as independently as possible with an appropriate level of support. Utilising the person centred approach, Autism Care UK works with the service users at a relevant pace dependent upon their level of ability. By following this approach servicer users' quality of life is improved and they are able to lead an ordinary lifestyle. By promoting servicer users' social interaction and inclusion, individuals can be helped to feel that they are a valued member of the society in which they live. This can be achieved by encouraging service users to partake in relevant and desired activities within the community such as college courses, voluntary and paid employment, visiting local attractions, joining clubs such as a leisure centre and accessing the community to promote learning skills in areas of shopping and the paying of household bills. All referrals to supported living services are deemed important. Following a referral an assessment is undertaken to establish the needs and level of support necessary to provide a qualitative service to each individual.
