Autism Diagnostic and Research Centre, Southampton Ltd (ADRC) brings together a range of clinical specialists with the aim of: determining a formal diagnosis based on objective data; addressing the possibility of additional clinical conditions which frequently occur with high-functioning autism or Asperger syndrome; identifying an individual's cognitive strengths, as well as possible difficulties, thereby; providing a report that helps the individual better understand their own condition, and others understand the conditions necessary for habilitation, in order to enable those with a diagnosis to live more engaged, productive and fulfilling lives.
Assessment procedure: Triage component to determine what assessments (if any) have already been carried out, whether the patient already has a formal diagnosis of AS, etc. Information is collated and discussed by Clinical Team. ADRC then offers Diagnostic Assessment, Neuropsychological Profile and/or Psychiatric Review/Assessment as appropriate.
Follow up service: Yes Post-diagnostic reviews; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Multi-disciplinary approach involving clinical psychology, psychiatry, neuropsychology, forensic neuropsychology.
