Type of service: Interventions and therapies

Veronica Martin is a autism consultant who can provide training, practical advice and tailor-made resources for schools, families and other establishments such as dental surgeons and hospitals. Her intervention varies according to individual needs but generally it will consist of observations, identification of specific targets, direct intervention using a variety of strategies (TEACCH, social stories, social skills groups, etc.) and writing a plan based on the SCERTS model (Social Communication/ Emotional Regulation/ Transactional Support). In schools Veronica can support teachers, LSAs and SENCOs in adapting the curriculum according to individual needs, writing IEPS, using specific assessment tools, modelling strategies, writing reports and meeting the National Autism Standards. Her work with families includes a free initial consultation where areas of difficulty are discussed and strategies that can be used agreed on. This includes real life observations and feedback on video recordings, direct intervention (based on play skills and life skills) and resources.
