Autism Services - Ingram and Woodside Inpatient Services
Main information
Type of service: Hospital services
The service works with adults on the autism spectrum who have extremely complex needs and who display challenging behaviours to the extent that their high levels of challenge can not be met by local Assessment and Treatment Services. The inpatient service is provided in three units at the Northgate Hospital site: Woodside, Middlerigg and Ingram. In addition, step down environments are available in three bungalows for patients who are preparing for discharge. Middlerigg ward will close later in 2014, whilst Ingram and Woodside will close in autumn 2015 when NTW will open a newly built 15 bed unit. The new building will include a number of design features to reflect the needs of adults on the autism spectrum and will enable staff and patients to adapt the environment to individual needs with minimal change, and reduce the possibility of challenging behaviours.
