Birkett House is an all age day school for pupils with learning disabilities. There is some part time residential provision for those pupils that will benefit from an extended school day. Pupils with autism are taught in generic classes provided that they learn well. A number of pupils with autism are taught discretely. There is a cross school team for supporting pupils with autism. The school has a policy and a set of standards that it reviews regularly. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. Total Communication Environment is used. Residential opportunities are available for pupils on the school role.
