Main information

Type of service: Counsellor

I provide a one to one counselling service in two locations Norwich and the quiet village of Swardeston for those on the autistic scale who may experience difficulties in the neuro-typical world, or those in relationship with those on the spectrum. A safe space is provided for individuals to explore these difficulties, to discuss anxieties or the stresses of coping with every day. A confidential, non-judgemental approach will allow to voice your inner fears, your anxiety, or your difficulties dealing with the neuro-typical world. Appointments are available from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday. I am fully insured with Towergate Insurance, an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and have a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The first session is charged at half price (£20) which gives the opportunity to explore whether you feel you can work with me. There are some concessions available. It was the experience of Asperger syndrome in my own family which led me to try and discover a way to connect with someone who viewed the world in a very different way, and struggled daily to understand it. I wanted to reach out to them, to build a relationship where we could learn to communicate with each other. I read extensively trying to comprehend what it was like to live with Asperger syndrome. Since beginning as a Counsellor, I have taken the opportunity to seek out further training to extend my understanding which, in turn, hopefully benefits my clients. I believe counselling is an excellent way to connect with a neurotypical person who will not react with irritation, boredom, or judgement. It provides a possibility to explore the tangled web of social interaction, and find a way to alleviate the anxiety it causes.
