Brain-In-Hand, personal technology for independent living
Main information
Type of service: Suppliers of products
Brain-in-Hand is an integrated approach to assist with practical day-to-day living for people with Asperger syndrome, high functioning autism, acquired brain injury and ischemic stroke; it is designed to link users with a local support team in real time. The Brain-in-Hand helps user to work out in advance how to respond to an unplanned situation by using Activity Mapping. This incorporates activities, problems and solutions (planned responses) in a daily schedule on a SmartPhone. It puts the user in charge of developing a schedule, supported by a therapist where necessary. SmartPhone technology then allows the user to retrieve planned responses and automatically record the response chosen on a secure supporting website. In addition to this the user is prompted to record anxiety levels using a simple traffic light system, enabling the support team to respond when needed.
