Breaking Barriers to Employment

Main information

Type of service: Employment services

A one to one employment intervention that empowers individuals on the autism spectrum into employment, volunteering or training. Whether you are looking for a job, voluntary role or training placement (eg an apprenticeship) your autism spectrum disorder (ASD) employment coach will help you: Overcome/manage any `ASD/social communication` difficulties that may affect your ability to work eg anxious thinking; Teach you how to confidently and independently find employment, training or a voluntary role; Develop interview skills; and Assertively engage with colleagues. Once you successfully find employment or a volunteering opportunity, there is the option of undertaking four weeks of `workplace support' where your ASD employment coach will provide you with online/telephone advice and guidance to help you transition into the workplace. Your ASD employment coach will also liaise with your employer in order to ensure that they make reasonable adjustments to support you in your new role. The cost of Breaking Barriers to Employment is £60.00 per hourly session with a 10% discount of block bookings of six sessions or more. Sessions are typically two hours per week up for up to eight weeks and held in one of our Watford, Hertfordshire venues. There is an additional fee of £40.00 for the optional four week `Workplace Support` element of the intervention.
