Type of service: Respite and short breaks

Buckets and Spades is short break service that offers overnight and day services for children and young people aged up to 18 years with physical and learning disabilities, autism and complex medical needs. We can also offer continued short breaks for young people over the age of 18 to support a planed transition. This is assessed on an individual basis. We support families by providing round-the-clock high quality care by trained, experienced and dedicated staff. The home is registered with Ofsted to accommodate up to 9 children and young people. Buckets & Spades Lodge is Norwood’s short breaks home located in a purpose-built family bungalow in Finchley. It provides 24-hour high-quality respite care for children with learning and physical disabilities, giving their parents a break from the strain of caring. We offer residential stays from one to seven nights, in a large, friendly, equipped house with round-the-clock professional care and a range of stimulating activities. This provides an opportunity for children to have a break from their family whilst also giving family members and regular carers a much-needed respite from the physical and emotional demands of bringing up children with disabilities. Another disability and condition their service caters for is complex health needs. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the service users.
